The healthcare system in the Basque Country, including Bizkaia, is managed through the Basque Health Service (Osakidetza). Osakidetza is responsible for providing public and universal healthcare services to residents of the region.
Regarding the three main hospitals in Bizkaia:
Basurto University Hospital: Located in Bilbao, it is one of the largest hospitals in the province. It offers a wide range of specialized medical services and has reference units in various areas such as cardiology, oncology, and neurology.
Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital: Located in Galdakao, it offers a wide range of medical and surgical services.
Leioa Campus: In addition to hospitals, the UPV/EHU campus in Leioa is also available for selected students for research projects.
Ambulatory care centers are primary care facilities that provide basic medical services to the population. These centers are distributed throughout the province and offer medical consultations, nursing care, pediatric services, vaccinations, and follow-up for chronic diseases, among other services.
